Cathay Cargo Closes Tel Aviv Station — WTA Continues as Offline GSA via Hong Kong

24 בMay 2026 0Cathay pacific

After more than two years of sustained geopolitical uncertainty across the region, Cathay Cargo has taken the decision to close its Tel Aviv station permanently. The carrier cited the prolonged regional instability and the resulting commercial uncertainty as the primary drivers behind the move.

WTA Cargo remains Cathay’s representative in Israel — transitioning from an on-airport GSSA role to an offline GSA model. In practical terms:

  • The Cathay Cargo Tel Aviv station is closed; there are no longer direct TLV freighter operations under the Cathay brand.
  • All Israeli shipments destined for Cathay’s network are now routed through Hong Kong (HKG), connecting to the carrier’s full Asia-Pacific, Australasian, North American and European cargo network.
  • WTA continues to provide sales, documentation, customer service and full quotation support to Israeli forwarders and shippers — quotes are issued from our offices as usual.

Cathay’s global cargo network from HKG remains one of the most extensive out of Asia, with connections across more than 80 destinations. The offline GSA model preserves Israeli shippers’ access to that network while reflecting the new operational reality on the ground.
